Pastoral Message – June 18, 2023
Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
Hey Y’all!
I am grateful for the lovely celebration that happened last Saturday for the occasion of the 25th anniversary of my priestly ordination! The Mass was moving – Bishop Freyer preached- the music was glorious – the incense was lit, giving an odor of joyful holiness. Best of all, we prayed and worshipped together. Then the Holy Smokes Meat Ministry fed those who came to the beautifully decorated Hall after Mass. Thank you smokers!!! You fed the crowd very well. Thank you decorators, and cleaner-uppers, and everyone else who made the day such a celebration.
And thanks to all of y’all who have blessed me with your prayers, cards, notes, gifts and congratulations. They all mean more to me than I can express. Just know that my heart is filled with thanksgiving for all y’alll. My heart is full of humble praise to God for giving such an honor to serve Him and y’all.
So now I’m ready for the next 25 years!
Before I get ahead of myself, maybe we should think about the events we have planned for this summer! We’ve got some fun things going on around dear ol’ Simon & Jude. The Hall will be decorated again and again. The Holy Smokes Meat Ministry will be feeding us some more soon! We’ll have family time, prayer time, social time, education time, all in this summer time! So read the offerings below and see www.ssj.org/summer for more information & RSVP. Come to whatever events you can. Please take a vacation, but not from Mass. God never takes a vacation from us. Why do we think we should take time off from God. That’s like time off from life!!! Anyway, come and join Fr. Mike and me at any or all of these activities.
