Ministries

“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.” 1 Peter 4:10

We invite you into a deeper relationship with fellow parishioners by joining one of our ministries. Those who participate in a ministry are able to strengthen their faith, connect with others, and care for those who may be facing challenges.

We offer the following opportunities to participate in ministries.

For information on joining any of these ministries, please contact the parish office at (714) 962-3333 or email at ssj@ssj.org.

Infant Baptism Ministry

This ministry assists in preparing parents and godparents for the Baptism of their children or godchildren. Ministers provide information for and help to coordinate the celebration of the sacrament. They also welcome the newest members of the Christian community and their families into the Church.

Liturgical Ministries

Liturgical ministries serve the physical needs of the Church in preparation for and during our liturgies. These ministries include Altar Servers, Art & Environment Designers, Eucharistic Ministers, Greeters, Hospitality Ministers, Lectors, Musicians and Cantors, Sacristans, and Ushers. Participation in a liturgical ministry can help you achieve a deeper understanding and love for the liturgy, your fellow parishioners, and ultimately, the Lord whom we all serve.

Youth Ministry

Our Youth Ministry (SSJ Youth) is a place for high school students to find belonging, faith and fellowship with their peers, and to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ. We strive to provide an inclusive place for young people that includes opportunities to experience God as well as to serve their parish community.  Click here for more information.

Pastoral Care Ministries

Our Pastoral Care Ministries provide care for the homebound, sick, dying and bereaved. Ministers bring the Word and Eucharist to those who are homebound, hospitalized, and sick. They comfort those who are dying and support families who have lost a loved one.

Peer Ministry

Peer Ministry is an opportunity for high school students who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation to stay connected to their faith community through leadership, liturgy, and service. Peer Ministers serve their peers and the parish of SSJ by participating in our faith formation ministries – Elementary School, Middle School, and High School Confirmation.  Click here for more information.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul provides person-to-person services to those who are in need of both physical and spiritual support. Please call the Help Line at (714) 964-5818 to request assistance or to volunteer.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Assisting with RCIA is a ministry that allows individuals to witness to their faith and to be fully engaged in the work of evangelization. The team consists of catechists, dismissal facilitators, hospitality, coordinators of various elements of the RCIA process, and sponsors.
