HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY
“What is needed today is a Church which knows how to respond to the expectations of young people. Jesus wants to enter into dialogue with them and, through his body, which is the Church, to propose the possibility of a choice, which will require a commitment of their lives. As Jesus with the disciples of Emmaus, so the Church must become the traveling companion of young people…” – Pope St. John Paul II, World Youth Day 1995, Philippines
Our Youth Ministry (SSJ Youth) is a place for high school students to find belonging, faith and fellowship with their peers, and to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ. We strive to provide an inclusive place for young people that includes opportunities to experience God as well as to serve their parish community.
WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY
Every Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. we have a Bible Study in the Faith Formation Room for all high school students. This is the perfect opportunity to pause in the middle of the week to reflect on God’s word and what He is doing in our lives. It offers everyone a safe and friendly environment to grow in faith and fellowship. You don’t need to be in Confirmation or a Peer Minister to attend…all are welcome!
Every month we will have a high school social night here at Saints Simon & Jude or at an off-site venue. This is an opportunity for all high school students to gather in community, share a meal together, and have some fun. When we are able to return to more in-person activities, these evenings will include dinner & games here at the church, beach bonfires, bowling, or a movie night, for example. Friends are welcome too!
THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
The Sacrament of Confirmation consists of two years of preparation for those in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade. Preparation includes classes (approximately 2 per month), events & retreats for candidates and their sponsors, and service in the community.

Peer Ministry is a team of high school students committed to the sharing of the Good News, serving their parish community, and growing in faith. If you are a junior or senior in High School (or recent graduate) you are invited to join the team! Check our Peer Ministry page for more information.
