Matrimony

The sacrament of matrimony signifies the union of Christ and the Church. It gives spouses the grace to love each other with the love with which Christ has loved his Church; the grace of the sacrament thus perfects the human love of the spouses, strengthens their indissoluble unity, and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life. Catechism of the Catholic Church #1661

The rite of marriage is a combination of rituals, both sacred and cultural. We support you as you prepare for the most sacred moment in your life together.

For Catholics, Matrimony (marriage) is a sacrament. Unlike other Sacraments, however, Matrimony is not conferred through the action of clergy. Rather, it is conferred in the consent of the bride and groom and is witnessed by the priest.

Again, we rejoice with you as you prepare, not only for your wedding liturgy, but also for your Catholic marriage.

To find out more about the Sacrament of Matrimony at Saints Simon & Jude, please email ssj@ssj.org and we will connect you with one of our priests.
