Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus are pleased to announce a conference dedicated to understanding and learning how to welcome and support people with disabilities and special needs and their families to the community of faith. As the Pastoral Statement of the U.S. Catholic Bishops on Persins with Disabilities teaches us: "The Church that Jesus founded would surely have been derelict had it failed to respond to His example in its attention to people with disabilities. It remains faithful to its mission when its members become more and more a people of the Beatitudes, a people blessed in their meekness, their suffering, their thirst for righteousness." Catholic Social Teachings |
|
The Church’s social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society. Modern Catholic social teaching has been articulated through a tradition of papal, conciliar, and episcopal documents. The depth and richness of this tradition can be understood best through a direct reading of these documents. In these brief reflections, we highlight several of the key themes that are at the heart of our Catholic social tradition. |
