Opening Doors: A Place for All

Saturday, March 6, 2010, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus are pleased to announce a conference dedicated to understanding and learning how to welcome and support people with disabilities and special needs and their families to the community of faith.  As  the Pastoral Statement of the U.S. Catholic Bishops on Persins with Disabilities teaches us:

"The Church that Jesus founded would surely have been derelict had it failed to respond to His example in its attention to people with disabilities.  It remains faithful to its mission when its members become more and more a people of the Beatitudes, a people blessed in their meekness, their suffering, their thirst for righteousness."

Lifelong Faith ~ Our Journey Together

  • Lifelong Faith is one of the ways our parish is responding to Bishop Tod Brown's challenge in his pastoral letter Learning, Loving and Living our Faith: The faith and commitment of many Catholics has not reached the depth needed to sustain their Catholic faith and keep up its practice over the course of their lives.  The Bishop calls each of us to make a personal commitment to ongoing lifelong formation in faith.  This addendum  highlights many opportunities for you to experience learning, loving, and living your faith.  Together we will find meaningful and life-giving ways to be Church with and for one another.
  • Many events have been planned during this Year of the Sacraments for families and individuals.  Discover the many learning opportunities available to enhance your faith.

    Catholic Social Teachings

The Church’s social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society. Modern Catholic social teaching has been articulated through a tradition of papal, conciliar, and episcopal documents. The depth and richness of this tradition can be understood best through a direct reading of these documents. In these brief reflections, we highlight several of the key themes that are at the heart of our Catholic social tradition.
