Sacrament of Confirmation: Preparation for High School Students
The Sacrament of Confirmation requires two years of preparation for students in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade. While the junior and senior years of high school can be busy, we recommend beginning preparation in 9th grade to foster community and faith alongside peers. However, the journey can begin anytime up until the senior year of high school.
This journey is more than just preparation—it’s an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Catholic faith, experience God in a personal way, and embrace the incredible gift of full initiation into the Church.

What the Preparation Includes
- Meetings: Held from October to May in the Youth Room, candidates in Year 1 & Year 2 meet on alternating Sundays (approximately twice a month).
- Retreats: The journey includes a Year 1 day retreat and a Year 2 weekend retreat.
- Discipleship: As active followers of Christ we are called to service others and live as witnesses to God’s love and grace.
- Family Involvement: Special events will involve candidates, their sponsors, and parents, making the preparation a communal and spiritually enriching experience.
Preparation for Confirmation
- Location: SSJ Youth Room
- Schedule: Alternating Sundays (twice a month)
- Two time options (choose one at registration):
- 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM
- 3:45 PM – 5:00 PM
Candidates only need to attend one of these sessions but must select their preferred time when registering. They may switch to a different session if needed throughout the year. Both meeting times will conclude with Mass, reinforcing the central importance of participating in Mass as part of our Catholic identity. We encourage families to attend Mass together as part of this faith journey.
