Hey Y’all,
As we look over this year’s Stewardship Report, I want to thank each and every one of you for the love, prayer, and generosity you bring to our community of Sts. Simon and Jude Parish and School. Every gift, every prayer, every loving act, every dollar, is creating that which makes our community us – God’s people in our corner of Huntington Beach. You prove just how faithful, really how invested you are in our parish/school community! I take that as a great spark of inspiration! I hope you do too.
As you look at the numbers, I want you to see just how Andrew Watson, our Business Manager, our Finance Committee and I are managing the monies you entrust to us. I’m happy to answer any questions that might arise from your consideration of this report. Andrew would also be happy to talk about the parish finances. Our goal is to be transparent and have honest conversations about the community’s finances. Plus, I’m happy to talk about the deficit the school shows and how we’ll handle such a deficit as one community. I know there is talk out there about the school. Let me assure you, the school is just fine!!! It is working well and the missional goal of educating our students in faith and academics is continuing and will continue long into the future.
I’m also grateful this year for the legacy gifts left to us through wills, IRA distributions, and other planned giving! As you can see it was a significant amount. So please prayerfully consider the parish and school as you think about your own lasting legacy. Often these gifts come to SSJ through “end of the year” gifts, 401K or IRA distributions, gifts of stock, real estate, or other assets, and through wills and trusts. All these generous gifts have a dynamic impact on the future life of our SSJ community!
Now, I recognize that your own personal finances might be tight, but I also know the Lord blesses every generous heart. So, I invite you to join me, as together, we prayerfully consider our gifts this year. Maybe it’s adding a few more dollars to your weekly offering, or maybe it’s making SSJ a part of your earth to Heaven legacy. Every gift, big or small, does make a difference. And if you’re someone who hasn’t given regularly, there’s no judgment here from me. Please give as you are able. But please contemplate just how giving is about your heart and mind. Giving isn’t just about the dollars; it’s really about growing in faith, trusting that God provides for us. It is truly an essential activity in living a life of faith.
Finally, let’s keep walking side by side, praying for one another, supporting one another, and giving from the heart. Again, thanks y’all for being such a blessing to our community. Together, let’s keep SSJ strong, faithful, and full of life for years to come.
God bless you and yours,
Fr. Reynold
