Hey Y’all!
I have some good news to share. After quite a bit of work – planning, permit-getting, budget-setting, and praying- we’re finally ready to begin our Audio-Visual project in our Church. I am so happy that we have gotten to this point in this project. The sound system has been a constant concern. Even infrequent attendees will have noticed that our current sound system is failing – signals cutting out, random popping, and sometimes no amplification at all. If you’re a regular at Mass, you’ve been long-suffering in putting up with sound issues for years. But it might be most annoying for our homebound parishioners who rely on our live feed to participate in worship and prayer. They miss out on something sound-wise almost daily. So, the new system will be wonderful.
Now, with this good news I must ask for your patience and your cooperation. There is quite a bit of work to do with this project. So, the general contractor has informed me that the church building will be an active construction site for 16-18 weeks. And the starting date of the project will be Monday, May 19th. After the 5 PM Mass on Sunday, May 18 we will prepare the church building for the project. That means that both daily and Sunday Masses will be celebrated in Colman Hall throughout the Summer. The staff, Fr. Philip and I are considering this a “summer vacation”. At various times throughout the summer, we might even take the Masses outside. (Some of y’all seem to enjoy Mass on the grass out there on the field.) When we do schedule those outdoor Masses, we’ll give you plenty of notice.
And since we won’t be in the Church for the summer, we will also make concessions for weddings and funerals. I’ve been working with all couples who have planned a wedding. We’ll accommodate them either in the hall, or in the church of a neighboring parish. We will do the same work around for any funerals requested.
Finally, the parish staff and our great ministries are working on an active summer! We have all kinds of events planned, from BBQs to Vacation Bible School to Bible study
I’m happy in anticipating how this update will enhance our communal worship while maintaining the piety of our Roman Catholic liturgy
God Bless all y’all!
