Advent Outreach 2024
What is Saints Simon & Jude Advent Outreach? Saints Simon & Jude Advent Outreach is an opportunity for parishioners to pray, reflect and respond to the needs of those less fortunate as we prepare to celebrate the joy and promise of the birth of Christ.
When Does it Start and End? Christ the King Sunday, November 23-24, 2024, through Advent. Please note: Gift Tags, the Giving Garland, and the Advent Calendar will be available the weekend of November 16th and 17th.
How can I Pray, Reflect and Respond to the Needs of Others? Begin your “Pilgrimage of Hope” by picking up an Advent Calendar offering reflections, activities, and prayers to enrich your Advent with a focus on providing hope to those in our community suffering hardship. The calendar will be available in the Gathering Space and at the Mission Outreach Table on Mondor Plaza.
Who will We be Serving? This Advent we are serving Thomas House, Sea Cliff Assisted Living, Share Ourselves (Food Pantry, Adopt-a-Family), and the Huntington Beach Navigation Center. A description of the organizations and their general needs are outlined below.
How can I Help? There will be a Giving Garland and Baskets festooned with Gift Tags in Mondor Plaza. We invite you to take a tag, purchase a gift and return your gift to a future weekend Mass or to the Parish Office. The items requested cover a broad range, from the joyful to the routine. The breadth of the requests is a reminder that for many of our brothers and sisters, simple items that address fundamental needs are gifts unto themselves.
