Participation in SSJ Student Council provides leadership, community building, and service opportunities all within a cooperative spirit of fun. Sts. Simon & Jude Student Council starts with the election process which involves one week of campaigning and a speech in front of the student body. There are several “Commissioner” positions from which to choose. After installations, each commissioner attends TACSC Camp (The Association of Catholic Student Councils) during the summer to learn and perfect their leadership skills. Attending leadership camp with hundreds of students, who bring their own life experiences from Catholic schools in different areas, and even different states, is a great beginning to finding out the importance of this job. Service to our school and church community are essential components of Council activity. Through service commitments, Student Council involvement helps contribute to school improvement and personal growth. This organization meets year round under the guidance of faculty coordinators.
