Sts. Simon & Jude School utilizes Outreach Concern, a school-based counseling agency that works with students on a confidential, one-on-one basis to help them overcome obstacles that impact classroom performance. We have trained counselors on campus four days a week to serve students who may be experiencing difficulties with academics, behavior or personal problems.
We recognize that each student is unique and brings diverse perspectives to the learning environment. Here, at Sts. Simon & Jude School, counselors strive to assist students in exploring their different perspectives, as well as providing comprehensive counseling services that promote healthy choices and decision-making.
Our school counselors work with students in groups and individually, depending on the nature of the problem, issue or topic. Working with teachers and administrators, our counselors participate as members of the school staff and Learning Support teams. They serve as consultants to teachers and parents by providing information on meeting academic and emotional needs, as well as assisting parents and staff in looking at the “whole” child.
Students may self-refer, or parents and teachers can complete and submit a referral form. All parents are asked to complete the “Consent for Counseling” form at the beginning of each school year. Additionally, there is a 24-hour Crisis Hotline (1-800-4-CONCERN) available for our students and their families.
