Pastoral Message – November 24, 2024
Hey Y’all,
Grace and blessings to you on this great solemn Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe! As we end this liturgical year with this Solemnity, it is right and just to pause and give thanks and praise to God Almighty for the grace of his Son, who is the ultimate incarnation of a matchless King. Yet we can also think of Jesus, the Christ as a Man of Sorrows, who understands our human experience deeply. What a matchless and paradoxical King!
This is why we should well consider the fact that in Jesus, the Christ we do have, “the Alpha and the Omega” who “does all things well.” He is our King, our Savior, our God, and ultimate model of what it is to be human. This Jesus is infinitely unknowable, while also the most loving and empathetic of intimates. You might have heard it said of many, “to know him is to love him,” but with Jesus, the Christ, to love him is to know ourselves. And to know ourselves, we desperately need a friend, a Savior, a King—the Son of God. We need Jesus. So praise Him, worship Him, adore Him, take and eat of Him, and follow Him.

PS… If you’re interested, please see page 7 in today’s bulletin for a summary of our parish and school finances. We tried to keep some big numbers simple with a pie chart or two. But most importantly, the business staff and I want to be transparent about the financials. So if you have any questions, please feel free to talk to me or contact our parish Business Manager, Colleen Murray.
