Know, Love & Serve Jesus with all our heart, mind and soul.
Peer Ministry is an opportunity for teens who have received Confirmation to stay connected to their faith community through leadership, liturgy, service and they help their peers with Confirmation preparation. Peer Ministry originated from the Gospel story of: the Road to Emmaus. Peer Ministers share their faith experiences and help others to recognize Jesus is always in our midst.
Our journey of faith is ever-changing and filled with ongoing conversion moments. Teens in Peer Ministry; as they strive to develop their relationship with God, learn to serve others, and share the Good News with others. Confirmed juniors and seniors in high school are welcome to join at any time during the year. The ministry is guided by the Franciscan spirituality and our parish vision: To transform hearts by being Christ to others, working for peace, justice and care of creation.
The Legacy of Peer Ministry
In 2009 a few newly confirmed teens had recognized the presence of Christ in their lives and wanted to share it with others. They came together and began to share their faith with peers preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation; little that they knew their leadership would create the Peer Ministry and leave a legacy. They journey with teens preparing for Confirmation, actively serving their parish community while growing in their faith, developing their relationship with God and creating a support system for each other. Today, the team grows larger and Peer Ministers continue to provide hope for the peers while leaving their legacy for those yet to enter high school.
Testimonies from former peer ministers about their experience in Peer Ministry:
"I have personally helped some of the most unexpected teenagers open their hearts to God. The joy that comes from helping a teen find a relationship with God, is truly unexplainable."
"This ministry is able to serve its youth with its youth. In the true mindset of a St. Francis, youth ministry making these leaders "instruments of peace."
Being involved in Peer Ministry provided me with leadership when I was ready for it, friendship when I wanted it and a growing relationship with God when I needed it. Peer Ministry is a team made up of some of the most hardworking, inspiring, and compassionate people around. Teens can learn more about themselves by serving on that team and leading Confirmandi than in just about any other capacity - spiritual or otherwise.

My favorite memory in Peer Ministry was the retreats because of how you can better your relationship with Jesus. Being involved in Peer Ministry provided me a better idea how you can learn and grow in your faith. It taught me how to become a young responsible adult and lead others. I recommend teens to get involved in Peer Ministry because you can meet new friends other than the people you go to school with.
