To be able to volunteer for the school, parents and anyone 18 years of age or older are required to be live scanned (digital fingerprinting) and to complete all the necessary documentation. In a letter to the Pastors dated July 13, 2006, Bishop Brown reiterated his concern that creating a safe environment throughout the diocese is a high priority. The letter stated “every volunteer who works with children must receive safe environment training and go through the background screening process.” This training must take place every four years. If these requirements are not met, those individuals who have not been screened or trained are not permitted to work with children.
The following is a list of current volunteers who require livescan and training:
- Classroom volunteers
- Library volunteers
- Room moms
- Reading group volunteers
- Yard duty volunteers
- Stay Care volunteers
- Field trip chaperones
- TYKE and Kindergarten play yard supervisors
- Coaching assistants
- Team moms
- Sport tournament volunteers
- Drivers who regularly transport children to field trips or games
We reserve the right to add any other type of volunteer we feel is required to be live scanned and trained. To obtain livescan and training information, please contact the school accounting office at 714-794-1894. Only approved sites as listed in the accounting office can be used for livescan. Do not do this on your own as the Diocese of Orange has a contract with a specific vendor.
