November 20 – Family Feeding Families Food Drive

The next Christian service activity with our SSJ School Families is our annual Thanksgiving project which we have entitled “Families Feeding Families.” Each year, the faculty, staff and students of SSJ have helped St. Vincent de Paul fill their pantry by donating non-perishable food items so that less fortunate families will have the opportunity of enjoying a nice Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. As always, we do our best to provide the “extras,” while the members of St. Vincent de Paul provide the fresh fruits and vegetables, turkeys or ham, package the dinner items and personally deliver them to local families. This year, we are asking our students and their families to kindly donate any of the following:

boxed macaroni/cheese       pancake mix          oatmeal
green beans                            corn/peas                beef stew
jelly                                          applesauce               fruit cocktail
peanut butter                         canned pasta           stuffing mix
cereal bars                              packaged noodles   canned tuna/meats
cereal                                       canned soups          canned gravies

Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. These items should be brought to school on Monday morning, November 20th. Focusing on our theme of “Actions With a Spirit of Joy,” the students will gather with their School Families to assemble all of their food items, decorate their donation boxes, and pray for the families in need. We thank you in advance for whatever food donations you can contribute, and for your continued support of the “SSJ School Families” program.
