Among the servants of God who comprise the membership of the Body of Christ, ushers are called to provide a service in their exercise of this liturgical ministry.
Because of the nature of their service, ushers should bring to their ministry a strong sense of community. Ushers exercise a ministry of hospitality that requires that they be observant of the needs of people and be sensitive to meeting those needs. They should offer to find seating for latecomers and be familiar with procedures for caring for those who become ill. In addition to their ministry of hospitality ushers are responsible for the weekly collection.
The ushers are responsible for taking the collection and should be aware of the procedures for a second collection. Ushers gather for information sessions when these are scheduled.
