Call to Discipleship is an eSource for high school catechesis provided by Our Sunday Visitor Curriculum Division, Harcourt Religion Publishers. This web-based tool combines solid catechesis with an interface for today's youth tailored to engage teens at Sts. Simon & Jude Church.
The program's scope and content were developed based on the new Doctrinal Elements of a Curriculum Framework for Young People of High School Age. Each session follows a simple but powerful three-step catechetical process: Opening, Theological Content, and Closing. The options presented in each session have been intentionally developed to facilitate this catechetical process.
- Opening – welcome the youth and introduce the session topic.
- Theological Content – lead youth in an interactive, dynamic engagement with our faith. Connect the faith message to their life.
- Closing – worship and prayer.
Call to Discipleship is a catechetical program for high school youth that makes the connections between life and faith by utilizing the experiences of youth, presenting a theological message, and helping youth apply the truth of faith to everyday life.
The sessions are developed by the following faith themes:
- Revelation - How do we encounter God?
- Jesus Christ - What is the mission of Jesus Christ?
- The Church - How does Christ’s mission continue today?
- Morality - What is life in Christ?
- Sacraments - How do we encounter Christ in the sacraments?
- Kingdom of God - What is the Kingdom that Christ calls us to?
- Catholic Social Teaching - What does a life of justice look like?
