Welcome:
The elementary program meets in the parish school classrooms on either Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m or Sunday morning during the 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. liturgies. This is a liturgical-based program which focuses on the doctrine and teachings of the Catholic Church found in the Gospels of Jesus.
Curriculum:
We have selected “Gospel Weeklies” from Pflaum Publishing which connects the gospel to Catholic doctrine. We have selected “Gospel Weeklies” from Pflaum Publishing which connects the gospel to Catholic doctrine. The materials used are as follows:
- Promise Guide – Grade 1
- Good News Guide – Grades 2 – 3
- Venture Guide – Grades 4 – 6
The Gospels are our primary source for knowing and adhering to Jesus Christ in faith. The Pflaum Gospel Weeklies put Jesus Christ at the center of catechesis by building lessons around the Sunday Gospels of the liturgical year. The Gospels are pivotal to catechesis because Jesus Christ is the center of the Gospels. Another component offered is connecting the Gospel Weeklies to what the Catholic Church Believes and Teaches.
The catechist makes every effort to have the current and next Sunday “Gospel Weeklies” available for parents to take home. Having next Sunday’s information allows parents to work with their children on the next Sunday’s readings before attending Mass. Parents are encouraged to check out additional resources for the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies.
