“Were not our hearts burning within us?” These words of the apostles on the road to Emmaus are easily understood by the task force, steering committee, design and implementation teams for Lifelong Faith (LiF).  The passionate energy that is creating this vibrant opportunity for both personal and communal faith transformation has to come close to the excitement and joy of Jesus’ friends so soon after his death. It is with confidence and joy that we invite you to experience your faith as we explore “The Year of the Morality” beginning in September 2010.

Vision/Purpose:

The Catholic Church has directed parish leaders to offer a comprehensive and compelling vision of faith formation and learning that is lifelong, for all ages and generations, rooted in community, study and reflection, prayer, service, and evangelization.  In response to this vision set forth by Bishop Tod Brown and the bishops of the United States, Sts. Simon & Jude has embraced a community or intergenerational model of catechesis.  Our parish process, called Lifelong Faith (LiF), aims to promote faith formation as a lifelong journey and to focus formation for the whole parish around a main theme each year.

• Peter and Paul: Uneasy Brothers in Christ
  Monday, January 23, 2012, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Church
  Refreshments following presentation
  Dr. John Madden
  
  Dr. John Madden will be presenting on Peter and Paul are the two giants on whose shoulders the early church rested, but it would be difficult to find two more opposite personalities.  Though almost every meeting of theirs led to confrontation and conflict, they ended their days working side by side to strengthen the Church in Rome, where they were both martyred. 
  
  This talk will explore their different backgrounds and personal styles, showing how the gifts of these two very different men worked together to build up the early Church and why they are still both necessary for a healthy Church today.
