FROM THE CROSS TO NEW LIFE AND HOLINESS
What impedes, interrupts and stops me from living a life of love and holiness?
Come and explore with Fr. Michael Harvey, OFM, an ancient Christian teaching that has led monks and nuns to personal transformation and holiness for hundreds of years. This teaching was originally developed and taught in a remote Christian monastery in the Egyptian desert around 380 C.E. by monk and desert father Evagrius the Solitary, 345-399 A.D. (Evagrius of Ponticus). The teachings of Evagrius laid the foundation for what we Catholics today call the seven deadly sins.
Evagrius' teaching was intended to help monks, nuns and novices identify what kept them from living authentic Christian lives. He helped them identify and look deeply at their own cross (sin), and gave them the tools to begin the process of redeeming their lives.
Today, this teaching is known as the Enneagram. It is one of the most useful and helpful tools for living a rich, meaningful life. This intensive workshop will help participants begin to understand what gets in the way (cross/sin) of living a truly joyful and holy life. Before embracing our own cross, we cannot see how the patterns of thinking, knowing, feeling, and acting take us further away from true relationships, happiness, love and holiness. The teachings of Evagrius help us to clarify what prevents us from enjoying the authentic connections we deeply desire with ourselves, our family, our significant others, our friends, our co-workers, and even with people we thought we did not like.
Space is limited to 80 people for the Workshops. Registration for the Workshops is contingent upon attendance at the Information Session on April 17, 2012 Information Session and Workshops will be held in the Franciscan Rooms.
