The adult Christian life involves a commitment to develop a richer relationship with Christ and others.   The Christian call of discipleship is an ongoing process of formation in faith liturgically, spiritually and through catechetical formation.  The challenge of adult formation is to follow the teachings of Jesus as provided in the four gospels.

The community of Sts. Simon & Jude offers a wide variety of opportunities for the catechetical formation of adults. Adults are invited to explore the many opportunities provided by the parish.  Adult sessions, addressing the various characteristics of Christian life, are announced before Sunday liturgies and through the parish bulletin, eNewsletters, and the parish website.

BIBLE STUDY
The study of scriptures is provided on a regular basis in the parish.  Groups meet to share reflections on the Word of God and to form a bond of fellowship.  Check out the different groups offered.

ADULT SACRAMENTS

• Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
  Are You Interested in Becoming Catholic? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) was designed specifically for the initiation of the un-baptized person or those who are baptized yet un-catechized (no formal religious training). The process at SSJ begins with a time to ask questions about the Catholic faith and an introduction to gospel values and beginnings of Faith.  To learn more about the RCIA process visit their webpage.

• Adult Confirmation
  Preparation for Adult Confirmation takes place during the Lenten and Easter seasons each year. There are twelve sessions which take place on a Sunday mornings between January and Pentecost Sunday (usually in May or June). ENNEAGRAM - Evagrius Teachings
From the Cross to New Life and Holiness - What impedes, interrupts, and stops me from living a life of love and holiness?
Several sessions are offered throughout the year.  Come and explore an ancient Christian teaching that has led monks and nuns to personal transformation and holiness for hundreds of years. This teaching was originally developed and taught in a remote Christian monastery in the Egyptian desert around 380 C.E. by monk and desert father Evagrius the Solitary, 345-399 A.D. (Evagrius of Ponticus). The teachings of Evagrius laid the foundation for what we Catholics today call the seven deadly sins. Click here for more information.

RETURNING CATHOLICS
A program for Returning Catholics is offered as a welcoming and healing process for those who have left the church and are now looking into the possibility of returning and/or updating their knowledge of church teaching and practices. A healing and listening atmosphere is offered where participants have the opportunity to discuss the reasons for leaving the church and determine if they desire to worship as Catholics again. We embrace those who have drifted apart, been alienated or have been hurt by past experiences in the Church. Click here for contact information.

SMALL FAITH COMMUNITIES

The goal of WAFA is to invite all persons, whatever their social or cultural background, to discuss and apply the weekly scripture readings. To this end, the formation of small groups is coordinated through the Catechetical Board.

In the weeks prior to the beginning of Lent, parishioners are invited to form groups or register to join an existing group. The weekly scripture readings, with reflection questions and background information, are provided for each group throughout Lent.
